As the year winds down, the shows just keep on coming. In the next few days, the Waco Brothers will rev up their moonshine-punk (Friday-Saturday at Schubas), the Chamber Strings will preview songs from their forthcoming album (Saturday at the Empty Bottle), and Robbie Fulks will rock FitzGerald's (Sunday). Bringing in the new year on Monday will be Jon Brion (Harris Theatre in Millennium Park), Pegboy (the Note) and Spoon (Metro). But before 2008 arrives, here's one last look at my favorite concerts of 2007:

7. Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood at the Crossroads Festival in Toyota Park, July 28: The 11-hour festival climaxes with the long-awaited reunion of Clapton and Winwood, who last played together in Blind Faith during the '60s. Winwood sings like he hasn't lost a step on "Presence of the Lord" and "Can't Find My Way Home," and then delivers a guitar solo for the ages on "Dear Mr. Fantasy."
